Douglas Bee Apiary Branding
Client: Douglas Bee Apiary / Planting Hope Apiary
Date: February 2020

About the apiary:
Founded in 2014 through Delaware’s Veteran Beekeeper Program, Douglas Bee Apiary and Planting Hope Apiary have grown into local businesses offering honey, beeswax candles, nucleus colonies, queen bees, and bee-removal services. Their work supports both local customers and the broader regional beekeeping community.
Creating a distinct brand
After meeting owner Duane Douglas through the local beekeeping community, I saw an opportunity to help establish a stronger identity for the newer Douglas Bee Apiary. The goal was to create a brand that felt approachable, authentic, and rooted in the apiary’s local story while remaining versatile enough for products, merchandise, services, and a growing online storefront.
Website
After developing their brand identity, Kristen has since designed and managed Douglas Bee Apiary's ecommerce website. On the site, customers can explore the apiary's services, shop for honey products, and pre-order nucleous colonies and queen bees.
A growing creative partnership:
What started as a branding project quickly evolved into a broader creative partnership. The identity became a flexible foundation for product packaging, merchandise, marketing materials, and an e-commerce website, giving Douglas Bee Apiary a consistent presence across both physical and digital touchpoints. The project demonstrated how a thoughtful brand system can grow alongside a small business while strengthening its connection with customers and the local community.
